The 1841 census records Arthur and his family being in residence at the property Evandale near Mummel north of Goulburn. Arthur seems of have acquired his first freehold on Jerrawa Creek in 1851.
Arthur died 25 September 1876 in Jerrawa and is buried at Greendale Methodist Church near Dalton, NSW. Maria died 6 August 1884 and is also buried at Greendale Methodist Church.
